Alistair Barr

Alistair Barr began Barr Gazetas in 1993 to create projects in urban and architecture design. The practice has built projects in the UK, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, New York, Singapore and Greece. Barr Gazetas have urban design projects in Regent Street, Soho, Camden Town, Greenwich and Christchurch, Dorset. At Greenwich, Barr Gazetas have regenerated the whole central market. They created the new square outside the Dome when it reopened as the O2 in North Greenwich. At Regent Street, a 1930’s arcade is being reinvented for the retail revolution.

Barr Gazetas architectural projects range from new build, retrofits of listed buildings to recladding. All projects pursue sustainability at every level and the practice was recently awarded an Outstanding BREEAM rating for a listed building in Regent Street.

Alistair is a Civic Trust judge, a Design Council Built-Environment Expert and the Architectural Advisor to a conservation committee. He is a board member of the Academy of Urbanism and has led congress tours in Greenwich and Milton Keynes. He has been a part time tutor at the University Of Greenwich School Of Architecture for many years and has published three academic papers on urban design.
