Martin Harradine
Martin is Director responsible for planning and urban design projects at AZ Urban Studio and has played a leading role in a range of projects from small innovative developments to city-wide masterplanning strategies over the last eight years. He has a depth of experience gained from a range of positions, including a senior planning position at consultancy Urban Initiatives where he was responsible for a number of complex masterplanning, urban design and planning commissions for both public and private sector clients.
As a team leader in major urban design projects, he is as comfortable running large public engagement events as he is negotiating with major landowners. Key projects that he has led at AZ Urban Studio include Plymouth 2020 Vision Masterplan (forming the basis of the RTPI Silver Jubilee Cup award winning Plymouth LDF), a Masterplan for the Caxton Street North area of Canning Town, and a range of planning and design studies for Medway Renaissance. With particular skills in the interface between urban design objectives and the planning and development process, Martin has successfully managed the process of gaining planning consents for a number of major development schemes.
Martin is a member of the Plymouth and East of England Development Agency Design Panels and a member of the Creating Excellence South West Enabling Panel. He is engaged in teaching architecture and urban design at the University of East London and at the University of Plymouth.
