Richard Portchmouth

DSE Panel Deputy Chair (special responsibility for the South East)

Richard Portchmouth is a founding director of award-winning Birds Portchmouth Russum Architects (BPR) and has particular experience in infrastructure, educational, cultural, housing and masterplanning projects. Richard has full design involvement in every BPR Project, including the Avenue de Chartres Car Park in Chichester, Southwark Park Primary School, Stonehenge Visitors Centre, Plashet School Footbridge, Highlands Housing, Downley House, Great Fens Visitors Centre and the Laganside Masterplan, Belfast.

BPR have a strong reputation for their award winning buildings, unique projects & exquisite drawings.  The work is regularly selected for the Royal Academy Summer exhibition and has won the Royal Academy Architecture Prize on two occasions.

Richard has assisted with the judging of a number of prestigious international competitions, and was a founding Design Review Committee Member at the Commission for Architecture and Built Environment.  Richard served as a DRP member on the Newham Design Panel between 2007 and 2013. In addition to the Lewisham Design Panel, Richard is a member and Deputy Chair for the Islington Design Panel.  Richard has been a member of the South + East Panel since 2005.
