Tony Burton

Tony works free-range on a wide range of community and environmental projects, including providing support for community groups on neighbourhood planning and advising HS2 Ltd on design.  He is Vice Chair of the Big Lottery Fund (and chairs its Audit & Risk Committee), Executive Chair of Sustainable Homes and a trustee of Friends of the Earth as well as being a member of Lafarge Tarmac’s sustainability panel.   He is leading an initiative to develop a social movement to improve the quality of life in cities based on digital civics.

Tony founded Civic Voice – the national charity for the civic movement – in 2010 and has over twenty five years’ experience on the Boards of national charities, including as Director of Strategy & External Affairs at National Trust, Director of Policy & Communications at Design Council and Deputy Director at the Campaign to Protect Rural England.  He was recently included in the Top 100 Planning power list and is a trustee of his local civic society in Mitcham.  Tony was a member of the Urban Task Force and is an Associate of the Centre for London.  He is on Twitter as @Tony4Place.
