Meet our new Design Advisor – Helen Goodwin

Helen has recently been awarded her doctoral degree for her PhD research supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council exploring the impact of design on the public and community life of three newly regenerated town squares funded by the Mayor of London. This has examined the relationship between policy agendas, design ambitions and lived experiences of places at the heart of local neighbourhoods and, drawing on this knowledge, as a Design Advisor at DSE Helen is committed to improving the quality and success of projects for their end-users. Whilst carrying out her research, Helen has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate architecture and landscape architecture at Kingston University in a cross-disciplinary design studio, as well as leading seminars on the History and Theory of Architecture. With a background in anthropology from a previous degree at Cambridge University, Helen trained as an architect and has experience working on projects from the scale of the domestic to the scale of the city.
