Nick Hayhurst

Nick Hayhurst is a founding Director of Hayhurst and Co. Architect and Senior Lecturer at University of Brighton.

Nick studied architecture at Edinburgh College of Art, the Architectural Association and the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and formed his practice in 2004. Focusing on education, community and residential projects, his practice has won RIBA Awards in 2012, 2013 and 2014 as well as NLA Awards and RIBA Retrofit awards. In 2012 he was awarded 2nd place in Building Design’s Young Architect of the Year Award (YAYA) and in 2014 was shortlisted for RIBA London’s Emerging Architect of the Year Award.

Nick sat on RIBA Council, (1999-2001) and was one of the authors of the RIBA’s publication ‘Tomorrows Architect’ (2002). Nick has sat on the RIBA UK Validation Panel of schools of architecture since 2002, has been an Advisory Board Member to the RIBA’s ‘Building Futures’ think tank since 2007. He was appointed to the Southwark Design Review Panel in 2012, was a judge for the RIBA Awards in 2013 and appointed to the South East Design Review Panel in 2014.
